News Brief - 3/21/17 Besendorfer to speak at National Tap Conference in New Orleans Kansas City WGU Missouri Chancellor, Dr. Angie Besendorfer, will join colleagues from around the United States to speak at the Milken Educator Awards Forum in conjunction with the 2017 National Tap Conference, in New Orleans, LA on March 24th, 2017. The National TAP Conference is a dynamic gathering of practitioners, policymakers, federal, state and district administrators, organizations, foundations and businesses who play a key role in the implementation of TAP: The System for Teacher and Student Advancement and other educator effectiveness best practices across the country. The panel will address how the Milken Award provides opportunities for new leadership roles and a platform to advocate for students and education professionals. Milken Educators, such as Dr. Besendorfer, will share their experiences at the school level and beyond, whether it be district and state level initiatives, national boards and commissions, or advancing programs essential to the success of students. “It is an incredible honor to be selected to speak at such a prestigious event,” said Chancellor Besendorfer. “I have personally gained so much from my experiences as a Milken Educator and relish this opportunity to give back.” Dr. Besendorfer will speak to individual examples of leadership, including her career path and completing her doctorate, her motivation and decision-making at each juncture. Dr. Besendorfer is the 1996 Missouri Milken Educator, and previous Superintendent at Joplin Schools. She is the current Chancellor at WGU Missouri, which offers online, competency-based bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in high-demand, career-oriented fields.
